What do you think of "commercial books"?
But does exist commercial books?
I've read this novel. It's good. I've never played WoW, but this is a good fantasy.
Conclusion: all books are commercial. A writer does not work for free and the only problem is the quality of the book.

Genuine question, what did you find good about the book ?
I'm a huge shameless blizzdrone, but I also admit their books now are nothing but masked ads for their latest expansions, and pretty bad on top of that.
Are you Japanese?
I read the first 4 Warcraft universe books. The writing was dumb of course but I love that universe. It's so cool as an over the top fantasy universe. The dynamic between the classes (warlocks, shamans, paladins) that they expand upon in the extended universe stuff is fascinating. Reading about the world makes playing the game a lot more engaging.
I think people really underestimate WoW's storytelling. A lot of the quests and plots are basic, but there is so much there at this point, and it all connects and has history. It's a pretty good feat in world building.
