one of my favorite books. but as the previous anon said it is definitely not as /holyshit/ as Ulysses. IMO though, even if Joyce had only written Portrait he'd still get a lot of recognition.
i unironically love Joyce's works, pretty sure /lit/ mostly feels the same way, many are just embarrassed or haven't read him or meme about him for memeing's sake (those who legit read him and just don't like him, i respect that, but not those who dislike something just for being lauded or popular)
I've only read Dubliners and Portrait. I loved Dubliners and but felt Portrait was kind of tedious in comparison. Still a brilliant work but I just did not enjoy it as much
