How's the writing career coming, /lit/?

Promised myself I would only take a short break. It's been January since I've written anything lengthy. Not writer's block, just lazy

Formulating ideas for a couple different stories, not going to write even when I do get them figured out. Probably gonna write some terrible fanfic to get all the cringe out of my system first. From there, which will be about 2041 if projections are accurate, I'll probably bite a bullet after coming to the realization my talent for creating worlds will never be recognized.

I really, really, really, really want a young Hannah Arendt to sit on my face.

Not great. I've had a couple of novels rejected and a couple of short stories accepted. Got paid for words a few times which was neat I guess. But starting to doubt whether or not I'll be able to break into the actual book scene. I don't have any connections.

Still, on a personal level I'm more certain that being a writer is something I want. I've dropped a lot of unessential parts of my life: passion for my career (still keeping the 9-5 but I'm not invested mentally like I used to be), video game hobby (now I read more), and eating out all the time (money sink). I write as often as I can - squeezing it in on my lunch, in the morning, and (increasingly) at night. Who knows - I might just make it.
