Metamorphoses - Ovid Discussion Thread
Thoughts? Reading now and blown away. Why the fuck can't modern writers can't come up with a single good story when this guy comes up with more than Scheherazade.

is this your first one? If not where should we start?

De Rerum Natura is the perfect intro for proceeding with romans
This is one of my favorite books. Surprised it isn't discussed here more often. So far I've only read the Oxford Classics AD Melville translation which is good for the most part, but I think I'm going to like the Everyman's Library Allen Mandelbaum translation more. Of all my research those are the only 2 being worth reading because the other translations have either inexcusable errors (one of them has a rap battle with literal nignog slang) or are lame prose translations (which would suffice if you're into that).

Ovid re-told pre-existing myths. Just like, to an extent, the entirety of the literary tradition. Dear olf P. O. Naso didn't just invent this shit out of thin air.

I want to experience the joy of reading and completely being enraptured by Metamorphosis in its original intended purpose. Too bad I don't have time to learn Latin and even if I did, I can't use it anywhere IRL.
sucks
