What's wrong with Fagles?
>>9470471
rhymes with both fables and bagels but not seagulls

Not that anon but I bought Fagles ages ago when I didn't know any better. You didn't get meme'd necessarily, but there are far better options you should've gone for.
What you really wanted was the Fitzgerald.
I just finished the Fagles Iliad translation and it was great. Ignore these pseuds.

I just bought that translation of the Illiad as well. It's the most recommended one here, so of course, contrarian faggots will start running their mouths. I got the same shit for reading the Peaver War & Peace.
>what one should I read?
>this one
>this one?
>yeah
>...later..
>OK, I picked up this one
>NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING THIS ONE IS FOR FAGGOTS, YOU SHOULD HAVE GOT THAT ONE

I'm reading Underworld right now and vacillate between hating and loving sections of it 600 pages in. Set aside some time and dedication for that jazzy word salad.
Spoiler: It's not about New York much at all.

It's my first Delillo and I really have no idea what to expect

>Peaver War & Peace.
I'm sorry to hear that.
They literally are shit. Fagles is good but P&V are terrible - especially for Tolstoy. They butcher the fuck out of his prose and write awkward, 'clunky' sentences. Maude is so much nicer to read. P&V hate isn't a meme.

Checked.
I first read Fagles' Iliad over 10 years ago now. It's a treat, but I also enjoyed the Pope version on Gutenberg via my kindle a couple years ago.
Haven't read the rest, but they are /lit/ memes. I suppose that means they are good. Read a bit of Dunces. Ignatius reminds me of poe-news, or 4chan.

These stacks threads always make you look as if you had just started reading...
Blood Meridian, Dune and the Complete Fiction of Lovecraft.
