How do I start writing? I want my dream project to be really good but I understand that having it be my first would just be a recipe for disaster.

My dream project is slated to be my fourth or fifth book. So likely at least twenty years away.

If you can't think of anything to write besides your dream project, I'd say just go for it. Just don't get discouraged if it doesn't just magically spill out of you in its final form, write and rewrite it until it's good.
