>Art Spiegelman - Maus
not OP but my class read that senior year. I was the only one to write how I didn't enjoy it. I feel like most were guilted to write something positive because muh holocaust.
I just got tired of holocaust stories. They are all the same.
>everything is fine
>rumors of spooky shit
>then everything changed when the Nazis attacked
>ghettos
>trains
>camps
>rescue
The end

It's a good book too.

It's not just a holocaust story though, but how Art Spiegelman applied anthropomorphic animals as metaphors for different nationalities and their behaviours at the time, as well as the detail his father recalls that can become very uncomfortable, as well as the makeshift bartering system that developed which isn't something you see portrayed too often in holocaust stories (unless if you count Shoah and the barbershop scene). Plus, it wasn't a particularly clean rescue for his father either. It's a holocaust story that uses the graphic novel medium to the best of its abilities. I don't know, anon, but maybe try reading it again sometime? Maybe try to see it from Art's perspective as if he was hearing it all for the first time.

The bible, gospels specifically

This. I actually enjoyed reading Maus, even though I dislike the medium in general. It also aptly points out how Holocaust survivors cope and remember the legacy of their experiences, and how it shaped their lives.

You've identified multiple modes belonging to holocaust stories, and one literary method for representation. Doesn't sound all to great, anon :/
