How reliable are places like goodreads? I see great pieces of literature given 1 star lol. What the fuck is wrong with people and what are the best review sites?

I usually read the reviews on both amazon and goodreads.
If the reviews feels genuine enough (beware paid shills and clueless readers), I download the kindle in my backlog.
