When and why did illustrations in literature die out?
Why don't modern best sellers have illustrations every 50 pages like back then?

Either poor condition to not warrant even buying or the store owners are actual morons and you need to buy up their stock and resell it for 500% the price on Amazon.

They're in perfectly fine condition, aside from some dedicatory handwritten inscriptions inside the front cover. Stock is small (7-8 books last time I was there), and most are pretty obscure titles. I got Vanity Fair and Bleak House, though.
