it's perfectly acceptable for a certain kind of character with a certain kind of background. it's cornier when baby boomers say it and their pitch fluctuates as they do. but maybe the author is trying to show just that.

I hate it when I see it written, either on newspapers or books. I cannot stand this joke of a word. Its like some of those words derived from certain author's work, like gatsbyesque or kafkayesque. I just want to kill myself whenever I read those words.
