He's your typical nu-male. There's not really much else to say. I wouldn't be surprised at all if his wife was legitimately cucking him.

His writing is obviously shit, but it's written for teenage girls--so it's not meant to be amazing literature in the first place. The problem is that people think it is, and take him seriously, but that's not Green's fault.
