Try something along those lines:
Keep a dream journal. Write extensively for each dream.
Experiment with lucid dreams.
Practice meditation, especially the more visual kind like active imagination.
Read Jung, read Jodorowsky.

Copy/steal anything you like and improve it.

Dali used to hold a saucepan before bed and then the moment he fell asleep it would drop and wake it up. He would then paint whatever had come into his mind in that short moment of dreaming. Try that.
