Is there a difference in nuance between 'speaking' to someone and 'talking' to someone?

Speaking sounds more formal.
"I was speaking to Jim about last month's revenue."
Talking sounds more casual.
"I was talking to Jim at lunch about baseball."

Obviously. Speaking is one way directed, talking implies an exchange of language.

Why not the word just used, 'suggest'.
