Storm of Steel and Guns of August are the usual goto, however I really enjoyed Iron Kingdom: A History of Prussia (not all ww1) and pic related. Churchill's The World in Conflict and Keegans Face of Battle also good

Fantastic. I'm almost done with tuchmans distant mirror: the calamitous 13th century. If you want an objective amoral look at history than look no further. She doesn't get caught up in proving idealogical points and is able to show the flaws of all parties and how humanity destroys itself.
Reading "World War I" by S.L.A. Marshall at the moment, I recommend it, history of the Great War in chronological order of events
I don't know if it's what you're looking for exactly, but And Quiet Flows the Don by Mikhail Sholokov takes place during WWI and gets a decent perspective on the Russian/Ukranian side of things.

Every day I am BTFO more than I was BTFO yesterday.
I'm reading John Keegan's "the First World War" right now and I mus say it's one of the best written nonfiction books I have read in recent years.
I would recommend it
