Hey lit I would like to learn to read German I do not need to learn how to speak it but I would like to learn how to read it. So that I may read German philosophers in their original language Kant, Nietzsche etc any programs (preferably free) or suggestions on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

This is the stupidest thing I read this year and (sadly) I'm on 4chan quite a lot. Unless you are actually 12 years old you should strongly consider suicide at this point.
bump for interest

You can use google translate, you cheap fuck. Just look up every word you know on english and it's german equivalent
I'm taking a class on German in May/June.
Maybe you could try that.

...He's american, he wouldn't be able to pronounce half the phonems anyway, it's not like he actually loses anything by knowing how to build semantics on german sentences but not knowing the sounds.

Deutsche Sprache, einfache Sprache.
If you already know English, it's easy as fuck to learn German. Speaking it also helps you learn how to read it better, so there's no fucking reason to. It's also beyond retarded if you mispronounce the words internally like a dumbass Germanaboo, so learn how to read and write it.
