Almost finished reading this.
I find it really funny, the last 100 pages seem to get really intense...
Any other similar recommendations?
What a coincidence; I finished this book yesterday.
There's nothing similar I could think of, but why don't you check out the other novels from Ellis? I heard there's Patrick Bateman in Rules of Attraction, so you might want to check that one out.
glad to see an ellis thread without any mention of dubs

The rules of attraction is written in a similar style
Whereas less than zero is kind of the opposite
If you are in the 'like ellis' camp then most of his novels will appeal to you
If you like that style,ulysses
Since he admitted he aped it when writing the rules of attraction
I'm about halfway through it & honestly I think it's fuckin' garbage. There are some decent scenes but otherwise it's devoid of any semblance of artistic merit. I hate the rattling off of name brands on every single page. Utter shit. Will not finish.

Who preferred the film over the book? I felt it captured the themes and messages of the book well enough and only took 2 or so hours of my time. The book on the other hand just beat you over the head for 400 pages
>>9395547
I do agree with you to some extent, but I don't think the film presented the character as well as the book.

I don't get it.
You could try some other stuff by him, like Less Than Zero. It's pretty good, although not nearly as good as AP. It does has some similar themes though.
