Both reclusive and products of the 60's and 70's. But these two share a connection a little bit more specific: Richard Fariña. Pynchon and Fariña are well known for their friendship, Gravity's Rainbow was dedicated to him, and Pynchon was the best man at Fariña's wedding. Dylan's relationship with Fariña is also well known. They met when Dylan was just starting out, and like Dylan, Fariña also suffered from a motorcycle crash, but sadly a less fortunate one. "Open the Door, Homer" from the Basement Tapes is supposedly a tribute to Richard Fariña.
So this leads to me to wonder. Did Bob Dylan and Thomas Pynchon meet one another through Richard Fariña?

i doubt it

Why would it matter?

Bob Dylan is really Thomas Pynchon and only the Nobel committee knows.

This anon knows. How else were they going to award it to Tommy without revealing the conspiracy?
