But to answer your question seriously, my Kobo Aura has a 6 inch screen and I think it's pretty much ideal. It's definitely not too small and it's still very portable. I'd hesitate to buy an ereader with a bigger screen should this one break.

Yes but the kindles past paperwhite are useless gadgets.

How well does the Kindel paperwhite work in the sun?

If you're worried about overheating it doesn't really happen with any decent ereader. That's one of their main selling points over tablets.

my phone has a 7" screen but I might get an 8" next time if the specs are good for pdfs.

Oh I meant to ask if it was hard to read with sun light on it? Whether glare on the screen is an issues.
Go to know they run cool, I hate getting sweaty hands holding a hot device.

Kindle with good ambient light is better than with his lights on tbqh

Glare isn't an issue, it's like reading a regular book.

iktf, I used to dismiss e-readers after years of torturing my eyesight trying to read on the phone but they've managed to solve most of the issues I had with e-books with the kindle (never used other readers, so I don't know about them)

Size doesn't matter - technique does.

My brother has one of the older kindles and that old thing was better than my iPhone. I am going to have to get one now.

6 inches should be sufficient for most books you will probably read. if you feel you need more, most e-readers have a button you can push and they will display the rest of the book on a new 'page'.
