Please come back, /lit/. We miss you
Plan to read any books, bruh?

I read a good bit, actually. /fitlit/ was like my dream board
Anyone got screen caps from /fitlit/?
It's still there, idiots. Just go to /fitlit/.
Why do everyone seem to think that reading novels makes you smart?
>>9324253
Because it does. Why *wouldn't* exercising your brain make you smarter?
>>9324253
A better understanding of reality helps with living in it. Does that make you more intelligent? Not really, going by the classical idea of intelligence, but it makes you more wise.
Using your imagination on the other hand is actually beneficial to creativity which is an integral part of intelligence.

You don't need to qualify it with any of your vague "oh yes more wise but not classical idea of..." bullshit, reading unequivocally makes you more intelligent.

If you would have read the second part of my post then you would have seen that I said that it does make you smarter.
>>9324274
I guess you don't get much reading done, huh.
>>9324253
Muscles are gained through exercise. Knowledge is gained through exercise. Reading is the mind exercising.
If you read a book lightly, it is like lifting an empty bar. If you read a book thoroughly, it is like squats and oats.
>>9324275
Are you able to make an actual argument, or are you just going to insult me?
>>9324292
Hah. No you're right I didn't really read your post, but I was just pointing out you replied to yourself.
>>9324269
Maybe if I start reading shit tons of books, (like I used to) then maybe I'll stop feeling like my brain is slowly rotting from depression(and sleeping pills). But anxiety and tension makes it hard for me to want to sit down and start reading again.
It's just that ever since I had this nervous breakdown I haven't quite been the same(now I'm always more aware of every mood changes).
It's just that I feel I need to calm my brain by watching tv or playing video games, I never feel quite calm enough to want to sit down and read.
>>9324313
Okay fair enough
>>9324320
have you tried reading while you listen to instrumental music?
>>9324326
I ought to try that, that sounds like that might work for me. I used to always like to pop ritalin in college listen to music and then do intense reading sessions, those were the days...
>>9324343
just avoid anything with lyrics or words in general.
