Does anyone have a name for the painting on the cover of this book?
Barfing Lady with Tree Hat

I don't think that's it.

The back says "cover illustration shows st. Augustine in the region of dissimilarity, taken from a fifteenth century manuscript. Laurentian library, Florence, cod 1208, fo 132r."

Ah thanks I was looking in the first page or two should have known to check the back

Gonna read this in the next month or so. Is it a "hard" read?
>>9312477
Not hard at all. It's dense, being full of ideas and scripture, but it isn't difficult. It's not like a philosophy text if that's something you're thinking.
>>9312514
It isn't difficult to read and enjoy but actually it's incredibly philosophically dense. A lot of authors draw on it in surprising ways. Heidegger and stuff. It's kind of in vogue this past century.
>>9312339
it's called, 'i've spent the last week dictating repetitive shit about time'
>>9312520
I do agree that it's philosophically dense but it isn't a typical philosophy text. It doesn't use the terminology that might scare someone off. It's much more of a layman's philosophy without being simplistic.
augustine did a fantastic job of uniting rhetoric and philosophy
his books are easy enough (albeit boring) for plebs, but incredibly deep

Was Augustine a nigger?
>>9312520
It's been in vogue in all past centuries.
Would it be stupid to read this without having read the Bible beforehand?

kys
>>9312573
That just makes it a philosohy text, not a "typical" one.

The edition in OP tells you when and where he takes his biblical phrases/allusions from.
He quotes from the psalms quite a bit.
The book mostly shows how platonic or neoplatonic philosophy can be applied to Christianity.

Is that not what was said?
I'm glad Augustine is gaining popularity on /lit/
