>In her book Hunter: The Strange and Savage Life of Hunter S. Thompson, biographer E. Jean Carroll starts the first chapter with a detailed account of the excess of her subject. Here's what Carroll reports as a sample daily routine for the gonzo journalist (note that it begins at 3pm):

>3:00 p.m. rise
>3:05 Chivas Regal with the morning papers, Dunhills
>3:45 cocaine
>3:50 another glass of Chivas, Dunhill
>4:05 first cup of coffee, Dunhill
>4:15 cocaine
>4:16 orange juice, Dunhill
>4:30 cocaine
>4:54 cocaine
>5:05 cocaine
>5:11 coffee, Dunhills
>5:30 more ice in the Chivas
>5:45 cocaine, etc., etc.
>6:00 grass to take the edge off the day
>7:05 Woody Creek Tavern for lunch-Heineken, >two margaritas, coleslaw, a taco salad, a double order of fried onion rings, carrot cake, ice cream, a bean fritter, Dunhills, another Heineken, cocaine, and for the ride home, a snow cone (a glass of shredded ice over which is poured three or four jiggers of Chivas)
>9:00 starts snorting cocaine seriously
>10:00 drops acid
>11:00 Chartreuse, cocaine, grass
>11:30 cocaine, etc, etc.
>12:00 midnight, Hunter S. Thompson is ready to write
>12:05-6:00 a.m. Chartreuse, cocaine, grass, Chivas, coffee, Heineken, clove cigarettes, grapefruit, Dunhills, orange juice, gin, continuous pornographic movies.
>6:00 the hot tub-champagne, Dove Bars, fettuccine Alfredo
>8:00 Halcyon
>8:20 sleep
>>
it was a persona he put on for observers. he didn't do that when there weren't people around. he couldn't afford it, financially or physically.

he used drug addiction as a prop to sell books and seem interesting
>>
>>9293027
>Fettuccini Alfredo
At least the man had good taste.
>>
>>9293027
I love drugs and drugs love me
I love drugs and drugs love me
I love drugs and drugs love me
I love drugs and drugs love me
>>
>>9293027

Why do you hate freedom?

>>9293051

He was an alcoholic from age 13, I hardly think his rampant substance abuse was a facade.

>>9293059

Fettuccini Alfredo and ice cream is ingenious for coming down from that insane amount of stimulants - creamy so it isn't impossible to eat through the dry mouth, and extremely calorie-dense.

The man knew his shit. I read somewhere that he ate two grapefruits for breakfast as well - grapefruit has been proven to be potently hepatoprotective.
>>
>>9294178
I mean I like freedom, but why do you need THAT much freedom?
>>
I like HST and I wish I could emulate his style but the only drug I can really get is benadryl
>>
>>9293051

I read The Great Shark Hunt. He comes off as an obnoxious try-hard. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this were true.
>>
>>9293027
That can't be real, how could anyone survive that? And acid should had keep him awake at least a couple of hours more
>>
>>9294463
it's called like 30 years of heavy drinking and drug use, you tend to build up a tolerance.

Like I knew pill heads who would pop 80 vicodins a day.
>>
>>9294463
By "Halcyon" I assume they meant triazolam, a CNS depressant. After 10 hours and a dose of benzo, the acid would have pretty well worn off.
>>
>>9294479
He did his brain even function? He didnt develop any mentall illness? Severe case of steel brain it seems.
>>
>>9293027

Bullshit. I'm sure one day some day he did something like that but your heart would explode doing that much coke every day and fried food every day and chain smoking every day and drinking nonstop every day. I just don't believe it.
>>
>>9294463

>how could anyone survive that?

What are you, twelve? Easily. This over the course of 15 hours, eating through out the day.
>>
>>9294513
>mental illness
I mean, I don't believe he was ever actually diagnosed with one, but he did commit suicide.
>>
>>9294543
It's still a ridiculous amount. I could believe it if he was maybe in his 20s but past that the list is the equivalent of a Michael bay film in believeability. Drug tolerance goes up but past a certain point your body begins to die quicker and it no longer really matters. To be fair though his doses aren't measured in the article. When it says a glass of Chivas he could be just taking a fingers worth, when it says cocaine he could just be doing a bump
>>
>>9293027
I lived this life in Melbourne with my once highschool friend now drug dealer housemate, its fun. He has no problem, its fun.
>>
>>9294463

I can fall asleep on a couple hits of acid. More then that probably not.

>>9294513

What would be the issue?

>>9294543

This. Its not really as extreme as it sounds.

>>9294531

Some peoples heart will explode. Some peoples won't. Not much else can be said about it.
>>
I'm a recovering drug addict this only seems intense to normies. It wouldn't be hard to do that every day for years
>>
>>9293027
>What the actual living FUCK was his problem?
looks like chivas and cocaine to me
>>
>>9294826
Ex-addict here. What kind of substances you used? I got hooked on MDMA a few years ago, fortunately I was able to stop and go to rehab. I met a few guys that burned their brain with x and were incapable to feel happiness ever again.
>>
>>9294683

it's not like he just woke up one day and did high doses of all of these drugs

his tolerances were probably abysmally high
>>
If he was as hard going as this portrays it is a miracle the man was capable of a coherent thought never mind his journalism. All the great writers with alcoholism eventually degenerated into only producing shit after iniatal success
>>
>>9295168
>I got hooked on MDMA

why do americans do this?
>>
>>9295168
How can you get addicted to md, its by far the least addictive drugs
>>
>>9293027
The least believable thing about this is dropping acid daily. Excluding that this isn't really far-fetched for a lifelong junkie/alkie, and I'm sure he did plenty of hallucinogens, but I seriously doubt that was a daily habit.
>>
>>9294178
>grapefruit has been proven to be potently hepatoprotective.
You don't say. Wow this makes me feel much better about my drinking habits, I fucking love grapefruit.
>>
This is the kind of ubermensch madman you can become when you abandon all spooks and just go
>>
>>9293027
Still got little on this man. In that timeline he managaged to also fit fucking two of his wives, getting his cock sucked by Ginsberg, and screwing few coeds from Berkeley.
>>
>>9296495
You build up a massive tolerance to acid over the short term
If you do it back to back days it takes exponentially more to get the same effect
>>
>>9296706
Exactly, it just doesn't make any sense to do it on the daily.
>>
>>9296664
fuck how was he so handsome?
>>
>>9293027
As much as I love Coke I don't see how anyone can do it this much, you crash gets worse than the high if you do it regularly
opiates have almost the same euphoric effect without the crash (unless he's literally doing it for the energy)
>>
>>9296465
>stimulant
>the least addictive

i can buy addiction to a depressant before I can a disassociative. you euros don't even know stims from stims, America is a stim wonderland--we've got stepped on cocaine flooding the streets, methamphetamine booming 24 hr a day out of ever trailer, crack-cocain in the ghettos, and straight up 3/4ths racemic amphetamine exiting pharmacies by the kilo every day.

I don't even know what sort of backwater biker bar you'd have to hit up to even find 73% ricimic "speed" in America
>>
>>9296534
Its not heptaprotective
It inhibits an enzyme in your liver, often making some drugs more potent
>>
>>9296720
I also became very antisocial when doing stimulants regularly, rather than make me ambitious and lively I would just stay in my room playing guitar or working on who the fuck knows what
As great as it seems at first, you start planning out your day according to when you want to maximize your energy and minimize the crash
Opiates are better in the long term for an active lifestyle
>>
You can't drop acid every day.
>>
>>9293027
ONE day maybe, not every day
>>
>>9296757
>tfw i just realize this is what amphetamines, modafinil and coke have done to me
Feels bad

Tho ive had a decent output of work since
>>
>>9293027
I count sixteen drinks. That's not necessarily even a lot of for an alcoholic, especially not when evened out with the coke.

Weed is a meme drug and so is acid if you use it daily. Benzos to sleep are housewife tier.

It's not all that impressive.
>>
>>9295200
Tolerance doesn't work like that. Your body dies quicker than it takes for tolerance to build up. It dies even quicker under the duress of drugs/alcohol.
>>
>>9293027
Seems fake. Not one mention of Wild Turkey.

Can confirm, opiates numbed me to the fatigue of waking up for over a year and are highly functional. I mean they are literally the equivalent of the massive endorphin hit people get when badly injured. The type of thing wonked-out calm that makes people walk twenty miles to get help with their arm torn off or their guts ruptured.

But your body getting used to this level of endorphins from an external source is so much worse than it getting dependant on stims when it comes time to stop. The initial withdrawals are bad but it is the post-withdrawals that just trash you hard.
>>
>>9297637
Thirding this. Abusing Vicodin daily made me capable of at least attempting to accomplish anything I needed to do. Unfortunately I moved on to fent

aw dude I've seen so many people go from sorta-functional dependence to longer acting expensive opiates to cheap fent and basically gunning their dependence to 100 miles per hour and wrecking themselves. Fent is so bad because it raises your tolerance so quickly to the point where even the most 10/10 of traditional opiates (oxymorphone, uncut heroin) don't even touch their tolerance. Ive also seen people do the same with I.V. hyromorphone.

Short acting opiates wreck you fast as they become unsustainable. Being addicted to the longer acting ones like poppy tea, heroin, methadone all can be sustained for a good bit but the post-withdrawal of life being vaguely uncomfortable and empty just goes on and on. Thank god for weed.

stay away from long-halflife downers anons.

Now we support every drug addicted ninny willing to scream into a webcam
>>
>>9294683
Well yeah presumably he's taking tiny doses of cocaine and small whiskeys. Same with the acid, he's probably microdosing rather than taking a full tab. It's not impossible at all. I've done weekends not dissimilar at music festivals in the past.
>>
>>9295200
Tolerance will mostly just stop you enjoying it rather than it having negative effects on you.
>>
>>9296733
md isn't a stimulant at least not in the same was that speed or meth or coke are. md stops having any effect after using it steadily for a day or two.

I take codiene and modafinil before going to work. Despite only working there for the last 4 moths, my manager has said i'm the best worker he's ever had. I'm being groomed for promotion or some shit. It's a wonderful mix, no mental or physical fatigue at all. Work a 10 hour shift and i'm the only fresh looking mother-fucker by the end.
>>
>>9300197

I recall reading one trip report by a dude who did modafinil and read wikipedia articles, thinking it would turn him into a smart fucker, so what he does is that he pops modafinil and reads wikipedia for like 16-18 hours a day for a year, becomes estranged from his friends and family, his wife leaves him and takes the kids, and he cannot remember a god damn thing he's read on wikipedia all year.

I mean fuck.

Don't graduate to stronger opiates and do observe some tolerance breaks friend. A promotion is for suckers if the price ends up being several years of your life chasing the dragon.

>>9300357
I only work 4 days a week so i have 3 days off and i only do 100/mg daffy but a lot of codeine i suffer back pain and my desk is low.
I think i've got a handle on it, but i've been taking codeine every day for the last 15 years since i was 13. Daffy does fuck me up socially though, i don't let myself near my friends when i've taken it. I've only wrote this much because i'm a little worried it'll get worse.

>a dude who did modafinil and read wikipedia articles, thinking it would turn him into a smart fucker
What an idiot.

My apologies anon, have been shucking grapefruits for years, aping thompson

Mod is by far the least sketchy of them, genuinely a bit of a wonderdrug, but its just harder to find amongst druggies than traditional stims.
Have too much riding on work, wont do darkweb or indian pharmacy for mod like i used to for albuterol
