With all of the underaged kids on this board this seems important.
Pic related is clearly outdated.
What would you change?

Thanks anon
I made a new one which should be a lot more helpful and better. Pls let me know what you think.

Why is don quixote in a meme list?
Oh hell no. John greens books are great but only for teenagers. Plus, those aren't literary works with critic point, and they don't affect our society.
+ steppenwolf and Ulysses are missing
we should make a thread called
"what book got you into literature?"
and then make a starter pack out of that
that would be science
>>9287062
Yes let's do this !
>>9287020
I prefer the old one.
This is a little better
But this one and the top 100 list are the best imo, kids should just pick stuff at random and dive in.
>>9287159
pretty good but it always bothers me that solzhenitsyn is slept on
>>9287020
I wish Katie would love me
>>9287159
but this thread was about a starter kit, you wouldn't suggest Ulysses to someone who doesn't read at all
>>9286941
>it's full of American "literature"
No, thank you very much.
What's the worst that can happen, they buy the book realize it is too hard then shelve it for a year or two? Let people figure it out on their own, I prefer a chart that is heuristic opposed to one that is limiting.
Instead of making a new thread I'll ask here.
Why the Alexander Pope translations? FWIW I like Pope's translation (just started the greek list, on Iliad now) but searching for translation reviews it rarely comes up and Lattimore and Fagles are always recommended.
