Anyone have a bad habit of seeing mentions of books, thinking they sound awesome, buying them impulsively on Amazon, then never reading them? I have a big stack piling up
yah
If you buy used it's not really a bad habit

yea
I buy faster than I read
I always give a genuine attempt at reading a book I buy. If it genuinely isn't interesting me by the time I'm about a third of the way through, I drop it.
I buy in bunches, I'll spend like a month or so coming up with a list of authors or works I want to check out then I'll buy them over a couple weeks and then lay off until I've worked a good way through what I bought and then buy another bunch like that. Usually in bunches of no more than 10 books at a time.
Yep
I'm not going to buy more books until I read the shit I have though, I feel like it's gone on long enough and too far
85% of the books that rest on my shelf right now are unfinished
Yep. I have three Dostoevsky and 2 Steinbeck classics that I have yet to open and they've been on my bookshelf for months
Yeah, pic fucking related, especially the far left stack.

NoI don't have this problem because I buy books that I will enjoy and entertain me instead of buying books because the pseuds of /lit/ say they are "great".

It's more books I see referenced elsewhere. I don't even use /lit/

I read that as Pynchon Programming
Yeah I buy bulk of used book, either on Amazon (1 penny plus 2.80 postage) or eBay. Trouble is I can smash out book after book but when I hit one that isn't as good as I had hoped it knocks me. I feel like I can't just leave it, but I start going days without reading a chapter, eventually weeks.
It's happening right now. I started 1984. Part 1 was great, but Part 2, while it was supposed to give me the feeling and experience part 1 did, has completely lost my interest.

Anon finish it, the ending is the best part
I understand what you mean though, the introduction of the story can often be really exhilarating and then you just want it to end

Not really, I'm actually pretty strict myself in terms of finishing my current book before buying another. Though I did just buy some hindu scriptures for future reading, so maybe I'm getting slack lol
