I graduated a while ago but if I recall correctly I used to get loads of books about the relevant subject matter, read them, fomulate opinions on the arguments, and then present my own analysis and proposals based on those evidenced opinions. You might be thinking to yourself how amazing it must have been to be me, but actually I wasn't that unusual, everyone was doing it at the time. I would sometimes do this thing where I would discuss the details of the classes with the tutor and fellow students and we would all come out of it more educated than we were before. Incredible to think how advanced we were at the time. Only a few short years ago.
