Yeah, the only major theme that this poster missed was capital punishment and the degradation of prison.
the version in my picture, edited by graurerholz and miles, contains a few different introductions that Burroughs wrote for Naked Lunch, including one after he (relatively) sober. Those texts help explain some of what was happening when he wrote Naked Lunch.
If the book makes you feel uncomfortable, confused or disgusted, that's kind of to be expected. Burroughs wanted to capture the emotional depravity of drug addiction, the culture and society that surrounds it, and also the general state of confusion and irrational thinking. Because of these factors (confusion, disgust, unease) a lot of people don't like the book.
