What was Tolstoys' problem?
His reading of Christianity was so...blahh
christianity is blah
>>9251114
better than the alternatives
>>9251103
Dis bitch bangin.
>>9251120
I love those Slavic Wizards
>>9251120
that wasn't the issue
>>9251103
>The Kingdom Of God Is Within You
>blahh
Get the fuck out of here, heathen!
>>9251531
>miracles were just memes
>jesus was just a pacifist philosopher and regular human
ya, Tolstoy was a heathen
>>9251540
His point is that humans aren't "regular" that we all have the divine within us, but the Jesus was fully in tune with that divine energy. Jesus didn't sacrifice himself so that we don't have to, he set an example for us to follow, as we all have the potential to be messiahs, saviors, in our own way in our own time.
>>9251555
>as we all have the potential to be messiahs, saviors, in our own way in our own time
which is the anti-thesis of Christianity, you don't save yourself, you don't become a savior, God saves you through his grace not your deeds or mental gymnastics backflips.
also his reading of Christ as pure pacifist goes against scripture.
>>9251103
he was a slave rapist, what do you expect?
>>9251574
>>as we all have the potential to be messiahs, saviors, in our own way in our own time
>
>which is the anti-thesis of Christianity
Says you, oh agent of the Demiurge! We will be saved when we make the Kingdom Of Heaven that exists within our minds/hearts manifest in this material reality, here on Earth. That's why Tolstoy set up and advocated for anarchist communes.
>also his reading of Christ as pure pacifist goes against scripture.
Are you referring to when he drove the money changers out of the temple?
>>9251597
He knocked over a table and spilled some coins, then used the whip to drive out the animals. He did not use the whip on the money changers, he yelled scripture at them
>>9251608
Right. So where in scripture does Jesus act violently?
>>9251630
>>9251597
God speaking in the OT is Jesus, aka the Word of God. Plenty of violence is advocated there by Jesus. God does not change.
>>9251597
>money changers
we don't know the extent to which he whipped the money changers, it's all speculation. Either way it wasn't an act of pacficism or turning the cheek, it was aggression. So was his vitriolic accusations against the Jews who rejected him.
