This is only true for Gnosticism as direct Noumenal experience, not for Gnosticism as prescriptive ideology, which is indeed no different from any other prescriptive ideology.

That which ties facets of Rationality, Materialism, and Biology into mainstream Scientism is the idea of Emergence, the polar opposite of Immanence. Emergence claims things are bottom-up - it takes several Phenomena to generate a single Noumenon. Immanence claims things are top-down - it takes a single Noumenon to cast several Phenomena. The Darwinian model, for example, far from being a revolutionary heresy of whatever, is simply an Emergent model of meat based entirely on the Historic model, which is an Emergent model of Mind. Orthodoxy (all major Abrahamic denominations), prescriptivism, scripturalism, are smaller pieces of this Historic model. They all claim that even though all of their required material is ossified on all levels and all of their required ritual is empty, putting all the empty Phenomena together will result in Numinosity if given enough time. I hope I don't have to bring obvious parallels to attention.

Gnosticism is simply the reversal of this mindset.
