Question: are there any Light Novels that're really Light Novelly (ie, not sad, serious shit, but cute girls and dumb anime mechanics) that're actually good? I've tried reading a few of the ones that LNfags generally consider to be really well-written, but they're fucking awful.

a manga you fuckfaced asshole

LN are mostly written by hacks.
The closest you might find to "good" are by people like Nisio Isin

Japanese as a language isn't suited for novels. Most famous Japanese authors agree the language is too murky and vague. It's great for poetry, though.
What's the watchmen of manga

You mean manga that's a deconstruction of a particular genre?

Gee, I don't fucking know you faggot OP, do you think a type of "book" that exists solely to sell to NEETs in Japan with body pillows, figmas, and SoL BDs might have those things? Too bad you can't read it and the translations are ass.

This. Even in Japanese, most are shit.

Light Novels are basically commercially published original (word used very lightly) anime fanfiction. But, since 65% of new anime these days originate from LN, you can just stick to anime instead of reading.

You should check out Journey to the West. Yes, it was written by a chink, but those same cartoons you love were also drawn by them.

I was reading spook country and thought to myself "this shit's like anime."
Though it's really good. It's not all wrapped up in prose, extremely interesting characters, it's also funny but never directly funny.
This part stuck in my head:
"And it hadn't hurt that Bobby was himself a musician, though not in the old plays-a-physical-instrument-and/or-sings modality. He took things apart, sampled them, mashed them up. This was fine with her, though like General Bosquet watching the charge of the Light Brigade, she was inclined to think it wasn't war. Inchmale understood it, though, and indeed championed it, as soon as it was digital possible - pulling guitar lines out of obscure garage chestnuts and stretching them, like a mad jeweler elongating sturdy Victorian tableware into something insectile, post-functionally fragile, and neurologically dangerous."

Light novels are universally shit.
