My all time favorite books are 1984 by Orwell (not the actual reading, just the lines in between) and Breakfast of Champions by Vonnegut (The actual reading and the stuff inbetween).
Can you guys recommend some good books with this?

I've heard about this one.
How dry is it with respect to 1984?
I've also enjoyed Waiting for Godot and Slaughterhouse Five. The Great Gatsby was nice too.

It's wayyyyyyy less dry. Lot's of interesting futuristic science stuff and drug taking and even some gory bits.
Vonnegut gets shit on so much here by teenage psueds, but Breakfast of Champions was such a fun read. One of the few times I actually read an entire book in one sitting.
Give the Crying of Lot 49 a shot.

A lot more interesting, a bit more philosophical. It's less about politics and more about class structure, entertainment, and sacrificing the truth and passion for peace and contentment. Makes you think about what a society should strive for and what it means to be civilized.

Try reading a book outside the high school curriculum. Try something new, something you've never heard about before, feel free to check the /lit/ wiki for some inspiration
