Share your best stories of times you went to your LUBS (local used bookstore) and the encounters you had there.
i've only found clipped nails, hair, really old bus tickets, candy wrappers, and one time i found a photograph of two ~20 year old girls for some reason.
>go to local used book store
>browse and then buy some books
>go home and read them

Don't you ever approach the cutie girls whom go there to ostentatiously browse books, in hopes of meeting bookish fellows, such as yourself, anon?

>tfw the cashier tries to flirt with you
I don't want to go back again please I just wanted some books.
>Go to used book store
>pick up 4 books for less than $20
>one book is about patterns, written in Russian
>Date of Publication is 1965
>book is $1
>Buy it.
That's probably the oddest encounter I have with my LUBS. There's a few LUBS I go from time to time, but the one I do frequent most is my Church bookstore, which as an extension to the Church itself, has shelves jam packed with books, music (chants and orchestral) and icons galore.

No encounters, but right as I was starting to look into getting a book with details on a range of mythological traditions, I found this awesome gigantic old hardcover textbook at a used book store that fit the bill exactly for cheap.
>go to used bookstore with my mother
>see qts everywhere
>know I can't hit on them because mom
>make effort to not be seen with her
>my mother has coupon, so she's buying everything
>I stand there awkwardly as if I'm some sort of manchild
>in line
>qts in front, behind and at the counter
>please god kill me now

I genuinely will not touch a used or library book. I know it's weird and a bit autistic, but I don't know were they've been. My hometown library had to brick up their book chute after people shit in it. The book chute was at chest height.

One time I saw Shadow & Claw. Nobody in Australia aside from me reads Gene Wolfe as far as I know so I thought this was interesting. I'd have bought it if I had cash on me.
