My guess is that it's a religious hymnal. The warped binding indicates it's been opened and held open regularly and repeatedly. The cloth bookmarks are also common in hymnals.

The symbol is a harp, which would also line up with it being a book of music.

Well, it would help if you could photograph the first 5 or 6 pages.

The symbol on the front cover looks like a lyra combined with a dove; also there are three picking belts (I don't know if this is the correct English translation) - I tend to think it's a christian hymn-book: the lyra refers to chant, the dove refers to christianity, the multiple picking belts are typical for that kind of book (normally you only have one of them).

it's a lyre and it's probably just the logo of the publishing company
although "book with lyre on cover" doesn't show much useful
