Do we like this book, /lit/?

I find it tiresome, but I am in the minority here. This isn't Gogol's only work. He has a good play, some fine shorts, and writes a mean essay.

Get out.
I'm about 100 pages into it at the moment. Some funny stuff but a little repetitive so far.

I enjoyed the hell out of it for one.
However, it seems there wasn't much else from him to read if you don't want to go for plays. Should probably read his collected short stories.
Fun fact: later russian 19th century authors frequently mention and admire Gogol in their writing. Then again, if I try to imagine an older novel that does satire the way this book does, I can't really think of anything. It may be Dead Souls really did some things 'first'.

Ardis Books, out of Michigan, used to specialize in translated copies of Russian obscurities. Many Gogol titles (if theyre still in business).

Unfortunately I'm not from the U.S. and I did not read the english translation of Dead Souls, but thanks for the advice in any case.
