I used to not give a fuck about photography books and barely recognized photography as an artistic medium but now my interested is spurred, what photography books are worth checking out?
Bump for interest. Libraries also tend to have a lot of photo books if you want somewhere to start

A lot of them. It depends on which genre/subject interests you. Landscapes? Start with Ansel Adams. Old Paris? Go for Brassai. Surreal b&w? Man Ray. Old groundbreaking work? Steichen & Stieglitz. Nudes and landscapes? Edward Weston. Nudist familes? Jock Sturges. Surreal family portraits? Sally Mann. Old fashion? Richard Avedon. Kinky Japan? Araki. Controversial? Robert Mapplethorpe. Overrated crap? Helmut Newton & Anne Geddes. Studio nudes? Joyce Tenneson. Old photojournalism? Bill Brandt. Underwater? Howard Schatz. God-tier weirdness? Jan Saudek.
Actually, start with Saudek.
