That documentary is a dramatization, it tries to make something out of nothing. That's pure entertaining, it teaches absolutely nothing. Instead of trying to embrace all his thought, why not through his life after all, that type of documentary focuses on little details and dramatized them as if to reveal a secret truth opening to the vast thought of the thinker. It's pure complacency and indiscretion. What is interesting about a thinker but his thought, what's universal ? The rest is fetichism. Focus on the details, dispersal of the mind, specialization rather than focus on the principle, that sums up the historical tendency of human activity. And this is blatant here. If I was a student in the classroom when the camera was there and filming I would have left. Now how would you have interpreted that ? You don't even have the answer in what I just said. That documentary, belonging to the genre of cinéma-vérité, leaves nothing but mystery. The truth of mistery ? Thank you for nothing. I know little not to say nothing about Derrida and precisely I'm trying to. It might surprise you, not me, but most of the videos about him are English-speaking and little are French. With the little I know I wonder how Deconstruction would apply to that documentary. And among all the great philosophers one could pick in, I wonder what americans have found in Derrida who is not even really considered as a philosopher in its own country. Btw the cinéma-vérité was invented in the US like everything that is trending now since 45. I don't reject entirely the cinéma-vérité but it's object should obviously not be the rational thought of a person in particular.
