Why aspire to be well-read?
Because if you can't be an alpha, you can at least be a dignified beta.
so people like me without ever actually have to interact with them.
I was working with some goth faggot in a department store, and he was talking about "Die Büchse des Pandora." I was half paying attention, and said something like, "blah blah blah German expressionism," and he was absolutely blown away that I even had a modicum of understanding of what he was talking about. I made that little faggot feel alive through relative indifference masked as, and that's as a man, that's a valuable gift to provide to people. It makes them feel a little less alone.
Why not?

I'm a little confused, but that's actually kind of beautiful, despite your douchebag exterior.

I don't aspire to be well-read. I aspire to understand the world around me, and my place in it. Being well-read is a consequence of working toward that goal.
Yeah, why? Read because you like it, or because you're interested in the subject you'll read. Aspiring to be well read is worthless.

If you want to write well, you read great writers and understand their ideas.
Please shit post on the anime boards
My dream is to become a physiatrist, and I romanticize the liberal arts helping me achieve that goal.
Well-read is not a a synonym of a interesting and intelligent person. It's one of the forms to It, and should i say the most complex one (and complete).
