Just picked this up, probably going to dig in shortly.
Is it good? Or a meme?

Why don't you fucking read it and find out, you dumb fuck?
It's a good meme.
If you're 16 to 20 you'll think it's extremely deep. If you're a bit jaded you'll think it's trite crap aimed at teenagers.
Some good parts, don't focus too much on Haller's character, instead focus more on the possibility of transcendence later in the book.

Well, I will, man.
Hesse is the snob's Salinger

This honestly
It's a good book. Read it, definitely.
That cover on the other hand is not so great.
Just picked this copy up myself yesterday at the library. Will read along, hopefully finish within a week. Just got done reading Peter Camenzind and enjoyed it, although it somewhat fizzled at the end.

>Steppenwolf cover
>is a goofy, modern visual blending of a wolf with a man
If every anything deserved a "disdainful pepe", it is this well-entrenched, tired book cover meme, specific to this particular book.
I haven't read it and don't know anything about Hesse but it's a shit meme book and Hesse is a shit meme author

>>is a goofy, modern visual blending of a wolf with a man
Why do publishers do this? Do they intend to sell the book on the premise that it's some sort of werewolf classic?
