They want to prevent the dissemination of dangerous ideas. A bestseller could convince millions to take up antinatalism, monism, anti-semitism, etc.

On a whim the world's most brilliant author could decide to spend 4 months writing the work that could cause the collapse of civilization if enough people read it. Without sensitivity readers this work would get distributed to millions. That's the brilliance of online publishing and why unlimited free speech is a bad idea.

Unless I missed it somewhere, that article says nothing about publishers hiring these people, or any flagging of offensive content. It seems to be about authors hiring people to help them write characters in a 'sensitive' way, whatever the fuck that means.

So I'm definitely less outraged that it's the authors hiring these people of their own accord, but I'm still outraged that our society has forced them to do this sort of thing. But the authors that do this are progressive shits who believe that crap anyway.
