Worthy of the praise or all hype?
I thought it was a surprisingly fun read.

It's pretty heavy handed and stupid.

Houellebecq is the Lars Von Trier of literature. A vapid opportunist that enjoys pissing off European liberals. Every once in a while he may produce something of value but most of the time it's not worth serious study or consideration.

Why would you ever spend your time on trash like this when actual classics sit on your shelves unread?

Pretty good. One of the best modern explications of the long-term societal effects of secular-humanism.
>>
>>9135217
Not unbelievable. It's definitely one way we could be headed. People just accept what is happening a little bit at a time and before they know it, it is over. It's a warning.

You know this is satire, right? 8% of Muslims will not take over France.
>>
>>9135662
There are many more muslims than people strongly opposed to muslims. Houellebecq's scenario isn't too unlikely. Check out the next elections in France, they're gonna have 40% for the far-light and 60% on any random guy that just happens to be there and focalizes the votes of millions of people who disagree on almost everything. We the "it's either me or the far-right", anyone can become president.

Now the only thing that all these people have in common (the ones that "almost disagree on everything") is that they're not too strongly opposed to Islam.

Platform and Elementary Particles are better

But Submission is so timely which is impossible to ignore
>>

The French aren't having children, their birthrates are below replacement levels. The Muslims on the other hand have large families. In Quebec they had a phrase called "Revenge of the Cradle" and that is probably what's going to happen in France.

>implying it will say 8% forever

hehe

elementary particles was better (as was l'extension du domaine de la lutte), but platform is his worst one

You do not understand demograpics or demographic change. This is a logstanding problem for /pol/.

The amount of time it will take to go from 8% to even just 15% of the french population if there is no change in French immigration policy is more than 20 years. By that point an entire generation of immigrant childern will have been integrated and be culturally French. The same is true all over europe.

We get it, you don't like brown people, stop pretending there's any chance of an ISIS style government in the EU. It's absolute nonsense.

> an entire generation of immigrant childern will have been integrated and be culturally French
This actually does not happen in France. It's rather atheist / catholic youth that has no job or education and that turns to Islam to find a meaning to their life.

>stop pretending there's any chance of an ISIS style government in the EU. It's absolute nonsense.
Of course it's nonsense. Did you read Submission ? The whole thing is that a moderate muslim candidate offers a political platform that everyone can agree on (except the far-right). Actually Submission is not about religious extremism.
