There is an astounding amount of classic LGBT literature out there. Wanting to read LGBT literature isn't a justification for reading fan fiction garbage which doesn't portray homosexuals in realistic lights at all. They just want to read trite fairytale garbage.

I'm fine with them being into that but them painting classic lit as being some sort of straight white male behemoth is really fucking stupid.
They're not reading fanfiction because real literature is homophobic or rather, heteroexclusive. But they're demonising it as such so they don't have to admit to their moms that they're getting squelchy reading about their pre-adolescent crushes touching the tips of their wands together. And then they get praised for championing the LGBT cause.
