It was actually pretty funny to me. I guess it does well at humor because of its absurdity. Books written to be funny for that purpose seem to not be funny. I guess that's why this book is so funny though. Genuine absurdity = funny.

I think it has 'something' to do with evoking some sense of primal nature of man or something. I did get that feeling, like it was a caveman kind of mentality. It's also evident in the simple speech the protagonist had, remember it sounded kind of primitive. Babyfucking and that primitive way he expressed himself led me to that rationale.
