I emailed him twice when I was younger. The first time about "whether Oklahoma had the potential to become the next Israel?". A proposition I won't bore you with the details of, but Noam thought it "interesting" and that made my year. As for the second time: I had chosen a particularly tricky essay question in my 1st year of university - something to do with terrorism I believe - and I posed it to him in an attempt to cheat. Isn't the doctrine of PRO basically a religious tenet? You never actually believed that shit did you? I mean, there's no fucking subject in those embedded clauses. Explain to me why NO fucking language has an overt realization of PRO that supposedly 'exists?' Why can't you just accept that many clause-embedding verbs also subcategorize for verb phrases that denote properties? We need to give them some such semantic denotation anyway to account for mandatory de se readings of subject control. Plus the distribution of anaphors works out fine if you assume that there is no lower clause, therefore the minimal governing category isn't broken.
