Can anyone recommend me a good translation of Goethe's Faust, Part 2?

I read Kaufmanns translation of 1 and really liked it but apparently his translation for 2 was heavily abridged and I can't really find any decent info on any of the translations for 2.

You're dumb

I very well might be, but that doesn't help.

I'd like something that preserves the original meter while still sounding natural.

There is plenty of information on and comparisons of all the translations of the first part, but the second part hasn't had the same treatment.

Well no need to worry, Faust Part 2 is just the ramblings of a senile, pompous know-all.

So 90% of Greek literature?

yeah, but imagine an old horny German quoting all the Greek thinkers he read to impress you and convince you to sleep with his old ass. No character has more than 2 lines of dialogue, but there are 300 characters.

I'm mostly okay with that. I'd just like to complete the story. Even if it sucks.

I enjoyed part 1

Part 1 is a classic but Part 2 was written several decades after and has only very superficial connections to the first ones. Faust goes to heaven in the end.

I suppose that's why there's such little information about it.

That's a pity.

The story is complete at the end of Pt. 1

Pt.2 is Goethe writing a play that has nothing at all to do with Faust, then shoehorning a bunch of Faust shit into it and going "Yeah well you wanted a sequel so go fuck yourselves with this after I die."

I read the Oxford world classics version, I think translated by David Luke. You don't need to read the Greeks beforehand. Many of the allusions and inclusions will be understood by someone with basic knowledge and anything else is glossed in the back.

anyone who doesnt want you to read part ii is a jew afraid you'll figure out their ultimate trick: unconvertible paper money.

Shoo shoo dirty Jews! Thou belongst to the Synagogue of Satan!
