I completely agree.
L'etranger is much more compact and focused with a much more coherent story, but somehow the plague ends up accomplishing so much more.
I enjoyed the stranger quite a lot but I didn't get a feeling of any sort of unusual talent or insight, am I missing something that the plague could answer?

The plague apart from that it is really well written prose with nice characters and story, it's like one of the very few existential prose's that actually bringing some kind of positive message and fee ways of dealing with meaninglessness world
