Any good books on statesmanship?

History of the Peloponnesian War by Thucydides
This probably covers most of it, but if you need more up to date stuff, just go with this too.
Diplomacy by Henry Kissinger
How to Win an Election
How to Run a Country
Both by Cicero.
The Statesman by Plato.

Trump reads Kautilya every night before bed. He can recite passages by heart.

Good advice, thanks.
Coriolanus -- as a how-not-to guide.
my diary tbqh
Max Weber, Politics as a vocation
Greek/Roman(very important)
Medieval(not much here, skip if you want)
Renaissance (the prince if you want a specific)
Chinese(very important)
This is where it starts to get interesting, as the political climate is so volatile and complex from the 17th to 19th century, there is a lot of books here. Basically pick and choose some of the more relevant and long lasting ones before you move on(btw you should be reading lots of history as well to supplement)
Now we get on to the modern era. Basically you want to read a lot of establishing books by famous diplomats, politicians and theorists from this time. After, you can start to get into more technical works which represent our best understating of statesmanship today with advancements in psychology, group behavior, game theory, economics, etc. You should also be learning more about how government works at this time through books and first hand accounts. Read lots of biographies as well.
By the end of this you should have a pretty well-rounded look at statesmanship from multiple viewpoints, cultures, and sources. This is only possible if you also have a strong background in history, philosophy, economics, and social science. Now that you have the basics, you can work your way up through the political ladder, and gain experience. Only after a lifetime of dedication to statecraft can you begin to formulate your own theories on how to govern best. Good luck op.

Trumps a meme president, but you're a meme shitposter if you cant find any value in the Greeks or Plato.
>>9100996
No particular order
>Analects and Mencius
>Republic
>Nichomachian Ethics, The Politics
>Wealth of Nations
> What is Enlightenment (essay by Kant)
>Utilitarianism (Mills)
>Isaiah Berlin's Essays on Liberty (especially 'Ideology in the 20th Century')
>Hobbes' Leviathan*** <--- Fucking read this if you haven't
>Speeches and Essays by Lincoln
Also trump is a meme president of subpar quality but I applaud your interest in wanting to read more.
Is the Dictator's Handbook any good?

This, but leave out the Republic.

the first quotation is from Meno, retard
>>9104734
That one is even worse because whoever made that image has no fucking clue what it's even about. That quote doesn't make any sense in this context.
>>9101303
I agree, but unfortunately doing "nothing wrong" usually equates to bad statesmanship
>>9104972
No. Coriolanus' flaw was that he didn't go far enough.
>>9104550
It's true.
Teatro Grottesco
>>9101011
Thucydides is the best thing out there you could read on the subject.
Another great option that's also much shorter could be The Education of Cyrus by Xenophon.
>>9100996
The Art of the Deal
