Kobo or Kindle. Format is irrelevant because of calibre. "DRM" is irrelevant because of calibre and pirating. If you connect your device for updates, Kobo allows slightly more selling of your data, but Amazon will creep on even your pirated selections. In the end the choice is pretty irrelevant unless you like to read in the tub, in which case the H20 is the goto

Their rental program never has what I want, otherwise I would gladly grab it. I only really buy scholarly works and from used book stores and antique stores.

I'd have no problem paying the money if I could identify actual benefits over the paperwhite in proportion to the price increase.

I got a kobo glo for the price of the lowest end kindle. It's like i bought kindle paperwhite for half the price.

the readers are all the fucking same and every model from the major manufacturers from the past 7 years is plenty adequate for just reading
frontlight is the only thing to seek if you need it, and I guess waterproofness if you really want to read in the tub. and if you really need to read PDF:s, acquire something with a 10" screen.
