If you like Steinbeck's comfier stuff over the more political stuff we were all forced to read in high school, you will like his non-fiction. The character Doc from Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday is based on Ed Ricketts from Sea of Cortez, so it's basically the account of a specimen gathering expedition with Doc.
