Does it actually make sense to read epic poems rather than listen to them being recited? Like with the Iliad, Odyssey, Aeneid, etc. they were traditionally memorized by bards and recited to crowds with musical accompaniment. So would it not be more authentic to experience them through audiobooks rather than actual print?
Shut up, retard.

Someone sounds upset they spent $80 on a Homer boxset they now realize is worthless.
They were edited when written down. It's not authentic oral poetry.
The readings only sound good in the original language with the original meter.

I guess if you were to listen to them in ancient greek it would be a very interesting experience, but you probably don't know the language.
I don't see the point in listening to an audiobook in english or whatever your first language is, as most of the feel of the poem is lost in translation. I believe it is better to read it while making notes, but if you prefer listening to it, go ahead.
