I fucking loved this book.
Toru Okada is an unnaturally unfazed character. Surreal shit is happening and he shrugs it off. It's hilarious.
His reality is shifted beyond repair and he is able to repair it, the absolute madman.
The narrative is driven by the never-defined ever-present malaise that is exuded from his wife's mysterious and powerful older brother, and it keeps things interesting with its eeriness. Honestly, I got some Lynch vibes from some scenes, especially the "hotel" scenes and the encounters with the guitarist.
Hope this gave you food for thought, and that you are interested enough to finish it. Might be my favourite Murakami yet.

It is by far his best book. The well scenes gave me a Terrence Malick vibe for some reason.
