this shit is awful...I listened to like 5 videos and the subjects tend to be pretty much the same

>muh oppression

none of its good at all
>>
what did you expect? it's a way for hipsters to jerk it to their superior intellect.
it's like lit minus the selfawareness
>>
it's just an outlet for liberal angst.
>>
>>9042579
i always want to see someone just do a right-wing poem just to see how people would react?
>>
>>9042587
do it faggot
>>
I don't like spoken word either

but about the whole topic issue

can't someone say the same thing about Paradise Lost, that its just a poem about God

i mean the content is more important than the subject in poetry right?

They're dressing up a political rant as art, and not doing a particularly good job of it.

I'm shit at metric, so have a quick one in limerick form.

A young man, lady or manlady -
or, fuck the pronouns. They are shady -
leaves home bound to college
in search of some knowledge,
and learns to, marxism, acknowledge.

Wide-eyed, idealistic and trusting,
calls what he disagrees with "disgusting".
Believes in the poor's plight
and hates men who're white.
But his back he's not started busting.

If eventually he joins the workforce,
he'll most likely end up feeling some remorse.
Because try as he might,
he will soon see the light,
when experience then makes him go right.

"Art" made with self-validation in mind is pretty much always shit. It is an ideological exercise, not an artistic one.
>>
>>9042587
I did this in a freshman creative writing class with a purple-haired professor. The whole thing was about how people of my background (upper-middle class) have been unfairly slandered, and it slowly built up to a rejection of her favorite philosopher (Peter Singer) and an edgy Ayn Rand quote.
Got an A minus, and two of the other students actually said it was good. The "libtards can't handle bantz" meme is a myth.
I'll post the grade sheet if I can find it.

Yup.
Sorry I couldn't dig up the grade sheet, probably tossed it with the rest of the shit I wrote that year.
>>
>>9042575
It's a giant virtue-signalling session for black liberal college kids and muslim girls in hijabs to cry about how oppressed they are by spouting cliches in incredibly stale, derivative style.
>>
>>9042575
I see it as a lower form of poetry, not necessarily i n the same vein as great poets, but it has context, and because the same themes are repeated it doesnt make it bad, just repetitive.
