What is /lit/s opinion of this book and Jules Verne in general?

Verne and Dickens are complete and utter trash. They are the superhero movies of their time, 0 substance, simple ideas yet effective enough to engage children and manchildren alike and poorly executed plots.

if you're old enough to have found 4chan you've already outgrown Jules Verne

Good exposition of the world at the time, I had to do a lot of googling. There's nothing much beyond it, but it's good at what it does.

This is how I know you have never read Dickens, you fucking tool.

Ultimately not as deep as other classics, but very comfy and easy to read. (Talking about Vernes)

Est-ce que l'écriture de Vernes est facile à lire? Jusqu'à maintenant, je n'ai lu que des textes courts et simples, mais je me sens que je suis prêt à essayer quelques chose plus complexe.

Yea. However, he's still a classic, so make sure to have a dictionary nearby for all those words you will likely not know.
